For Volunteers

The Accessibility Unit for Students with Disabilities is looking for students and other members of the Academic Community who wish to voluntarily support students with disabilities in their studies.

  • Do you want to support students with disabilities, but don’t know how?
  • Do you wish to undertake voluntary action within the framework of your School?
  • Are you not a member of the academic community and want to contribute?
  • What actions can volunteers undertake in the context of supporting Students with Disabilities (SWD)?

Volunteers have the option to choose one or more of the following actions:

  • Recording notes within the course (without communication with the students – members of the Unit who will need them)
  • Collaboration in lectures/laboratory courses with students with disabilities and/or special educational needs (e.g. taking notes, providing explanations, describing visual or audio material, participating in group activities)
  • Collaboration outside of class with students with disabilities and/or special educational needs, on learning issues (e.g. participation in group work, study groups, etc.)
  • Collaboration outside of class with students with disabilities and/or special educational needs, on social issues (e.g. contributing to their socialization, the development of their social skills)
  • Participation in awareness-raising and information actions for the student community on accessibility issues (e.g. participation in the organization of thematic meetings, volunteering events, etc.)
  • Support for the access of PwDs to the school premises, assuming the role of an escort, within the building facilities of the Institution (e.g. classrooms, cafeteria, restaurant, secretariat, library, public transport stops around the building).
