Volunteering
The Accessibility Unit for Students with Disabilities is looking for students and other members of the Academic Community, who wish to voluntarily support students with disabilities in their academic journey.
- Do you want to support students with disabilities but don’t know how?
- Would you like to take on a volunteer role within your School?
- You are not a member of the academic community, but still want to contribute?
What kind of actions can volunteers take to support Students with Disabilities?
Volunteers can choose to participate in one or more of the following activities:
- Familiarize first-year students with disabilities with the university’s premises and advise them on topics related to student life.
- Ensure access to university spaces by acting as a guide within the university’s facilities (e.g., lecture halls, cafeteria, restaurant, student services office, library, or public transport stops around the campus).
- Support participation in lectures, clinical placement, or labs by taking notes, assisting with handling materials, or conveying visual or auditory information presented during class.
- Facilitate access to educational materials by converting notes into accessible digital formats or by picking up textbooks provided through the Eudoxus system, from distribution points.
- Create audiobooks.
- Participate in sports events alongside students with disabilities.
- Help maintain academic engagement by keeping students with disabilities informed about announcements, exam schedules, etc.
