Disability Policy
The International Hellenic University aims to ensure equal access to academic studies for students with disabilities or with different abilities and requirements and strives to create conditions that make the university a place accessible to all members of the university community with particular emphasis on access to people with disabilities, where the practicality of accessibility also makes access to knowledge difficult.
Its main activities include:
- Modifications to existing buildings to make them accessible (installation of ramps, elevators, handrails, accessible toilets, special signage for people with vision loss, low water coolers, disabled parking spaces). Ensuring accessibility standards in buildings to be erected in the future.
- Providing psychosocial support and counseling to Students with Disabilities studying in all Faculties and Departments of the International University of Greece. Organizing in a systematic manner the Assistive Technology aids of freely available software with useful information such as: product name, version, manufacturer, product category, related disabilities, application description, operating system, installation process, settings, and how to download the software.
- In the future, workstations will be created for people with visual impairments (PC and Braille printer).
- The Health and Safety Coordinating Committee is responsible for implementing the International Hellenic University’s policy on disability issues.
